One More Show This Summer

Well, we survived the big 4-day show at the Mall of Georgia this past weekend. Had a lovely time and made some new friends. (Hi, Landon! and Landon's Mom!)

We are hoping (expecting, actually) to be accepted for the new Town Center show to be held Thursday August 14 through Sunday August 17 at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw, just off I-75 and Barrett Parkway. Ya'll come see us! We are planning to get postcards w/coupon in the mail to our Cobb County customers.

Meanwhile, our Pandora beads are a hit. I'll try to get more listed ASAP. We made a huge bunch of them, so be on the lookout.

Now, enough talk, I've got to get back to updating the website -- as usual, it's been far too long.

Always check the Show Schedule, for current schedule of shows. Fall schedule will be falling in place a piece at a time.

Say hello to Pandora, Troll and Biagi!

I'm so excited that we now have the capabilities to make beads that fit these three jewelry makers' products. Some of you have been asking for them. Just this morning I added the several beads we've made so far to our new Pandora page . Have a look and check back as more beads will be added soon.

Hey, come see us at Three Sisters this weekend! It's gonna be so much fun. Or, if you can't make it, there's still Cave Spring Art Festival June 14-15 and Mall of Georgia July 10 - 13. May 12, 2008
Spring/Summer Show Schedule updated!

We have some terrific shows lined up. Be sure to check the Show Schedule, and then come visit us at one or more of these really interesting venues.

And if you're in the area (local), we have a small selection of our lampwork bead jewelry and gift items on exhibit (and available for purchase) at the Cultural Arts Center in Douglasville, for the "Random Acts of Art" exhibit of work by members of the Douglas County Art Guild. The art show itself, which runs through May 30, is definitely worth seeing in my opinion.

We also have tons of jewelry yet to list, including many, many new items, so stay tuned. I'm making a new commitment to myself to update more frequently. And wouldn't it be interesting to actually list all of our inventory?? Wow. What a concept.

And ONE of these days, I promise I'll actually DO that email list I keep promising. In the meantime, go ahead and sign up and you'll be on it from the get-go. And, we'd love to hear from you otherwise as well.

We hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day. We certainly did, thanks to my son Steve and his beautiful wife Diana, and her parents Luz Helena and Jacob who are here visiting from Colombia. They are wonderful, incredible people who raised a wonderful, incredible daughter we're proud to call our own. We just wish we could understand them!

MARCH 28, 2008
Happy New Year!

Huh? What's that you say? Oh, good grief! You can't be serious. Can it really be the end of March already?

Sigh.

Just because you haven't heard from us, you probably think we've been on extended vacation.

Not. Exactly.

Alan couldn't leave well enough alone health-wise and developed pneumonia and pleurisy in January, and I had to go back to waiting on him hand and foot (and he loved it, which I'm totally convinced kept him in bed longer than necessary). Doc almost put him in the hospital again, but the fear of that kept him adhering to doctor's orders pretty well. Between my whip-cracking and his fear of being hospitalized, he finally got better.

Now we've been busily getting ready for our spring season. We've got some shows lined up we're really excited about, and have applied for some others that will be great, we think. This year we're going to do a little traveling (not to mention the fact that with gas prices it's become slightly cheaper to spend the night at some of our venues instead of traveling back and forth -- such as our Guntersville gig, for one). So stay tuned for all the details.

And slowly but surely I'll be getting some of our newer pieces posted. Some of them are simply gorgeous -- no, I take that back. ALL of them are simply gorgeous; a few are exceptional by any standard. I know I keep promising to get more of our inventory posted, but one of these days I actually WILL. Then what'll you complain about?

We've also had some of our jewelry on display (and for sale, of course) at Cowart Art Gallery in Villa Rica, Georgia. That's such a neat place to visit. He's got some fabulous affordable art by others, and our jewelry makes a nice addition for a short time, we think. Our exhibit will end shortly before our first April show.

And then there'll be an Art Show at the Cultural Arts Center in Douglasville during the month of May, courtesy of the Douglas County Art Guild, of which we are proud members.

So, YOU may not have heard from us for these several months, but we've been a little buys, and some of it has actually been about jewelry!

Now let's get it on for the show season -- come see us! Mention our website and we'll give you a 10% discount (more for multiple purchases).

See you there!

Countdown to 2008
Well, Christmas is (finally) over, and Alan's doing well though not bouncing back quite like he used to. In just a few more days we'll have another New Year to welcome in. New beginnings are always good, usually encouraging and allowing us to focus on potential alternative choices and opportunities for how we do things. So between dealing with health issues we continue to think and make plans for Be*Jeweled's future. More to come! Meanwhile, go look at ourNewest Items page to find out about this little gem.

Always somethin'...
...In the immortal words of Gilda Radner. And boy oh boy, don't I need to get some pix on this page?

Well, where does the time go? Only day before yesterday I was singing the praises of Christmas House (thanks to all our Christmas House customers!), and now here it is December 19, less than a week until Christmas.

One central thing has kept me very busy.

Alan had dental surgery on Saturday morning December 8 and then on Monday the 10th he had emergency surgery for a strangulated hernia. I took him to his regular M.D. Monday morning for some stomach pains and swelling and soreness in the lower torso, and the doctor swooshed him right over to the surgeon, and the surgeon swooshed him right into the hospital: "You'll be in surgery within 6 hours." And as most of you probably know, 6 hours by hospital time is PDQ -- pretty darned quick.

He's done very well -- and is a very good patient -- but with Alan everything seems to be more complicated than it was expected to be. The hernia was way worse, so surgery took longer. He developed some heart arrhythmia during surgery so recovery afterwards took 3 times as long while they observed him. That little glitch ended up keeping him in the hospital longer than everyone had expected -- nearly a week, only to turn around the next day and take him back due to more minor (one hopes) complications. And so it goes. I just now learned he's having symptoms that I think I need to call one of his doctors about -- just as soon as I research the voluminous info on his meds to see which of them the symptoms might be a side-effect from.

But we're very fortunate to have truly wonderful doctors, the hospital and staff (Carrollton, GA) were quite good, and you can't imagine how wonderful it is to be home until you've had an experience like this.

In case I don't get back before then, Merry Christmas to all our wonderful friends and customers.

Patricia and Alan

Oh, go see Christmas House!
You won't regret it. And plan to have lunch there, too. The Tea Room's offerings are fabulous. Well worth it. Imbibe of fabulous art (and some pretty nice crafts) -- including attractive little wonders priced from as low as $1.00 -- and then treat yourself to a delicious lunch.
Sales were brisk during the period we were there, and no wonder. So many of the artists have underpriced their work, in my opinion -- your gain! We ourselves marked down a few things to the $30 range price point which we were told was probably optimum.

New Directions for a New Year -- We're in the process of re-evaluating our work, our price points, our target market, everything, the whole shebang. And I'm excited about that. I think we've more accurately identified our target customer, our niche, and we'll be taking measures to find that customer more often, as well as taking some steps to widen our customer base in different directions. Stay tuned. There may be some announcements involved.

Not too late!
There's still time to schedule a Jewelry Party before Christmas, so be sure and contact us!

NOVEMBER 19, 2007
Last 2007 Show -- Well, for a little while there yesterday when we were starting to pack up at the Sprayberry Show, I had a twinge of poignancy that the weekend Arts & Crafts shows are over for the year. It was a little sad. On the other hand, it'll be nice to have a bit of a break from all that schlepping not to mention the 5:30am and even earlier alarms on show weekend days. (Ugh)

There is one final opportunity to view our lovely creations and shop with us in person -- The 23rd Annual Christmas House Arts and Crafs Show at historic Mable House in Mableton, November 30 - December 9.

Show hours are 10am to 6pm daily. You'll have the chance to "select from hundreds of unique handmade items displayed in a beautiful holiday setting."

Our own scheduled work time (as South Cobb Art Alliance members and volunteers) is Dec. 1 from 10 to 2 but we plan to make it back another day to have lunch in the Tea Room (11 am to 2 pm Mon-Sat and Noon to 2pm on Sunday) and perhaps enjoy a bit of shopping ourselves. In addition to the worlds' best jewelry (ahem!), there'll be bath items, scented candles, clothing, embroidery, edibles, fiber art, glass, home decor, metal art, ornaments, paper items, pottery, toys, wreaths, and wood. Sounds like quite a wonderful assortment of artisan goodies, doesn't it!?!

Our work will be interspersed with others, instead of isolated in our own booth as all the other shows have been. It will be interesting, and we're looking forward to it.

Change In the Air -- We'll be making some changes to our business plan for 2008. So aside from Christmas House, for the remainder of the year we'll be focusing on building our website, possibly scheduling some ebay auctions (so stay tuned for some great bargains!) and researching and applying to shows for 2008.

NOVEMBER 27, 2007
Last of the preparations for Christmas House which begins November 30 and runs through December 9 at the historic Mable House in Mableton, GA. We went through a large part of our inventory, repriced some things (down!), and then they all had to be tagged in a special way, and the last thing I have to do is write up the inventory sheets I have to take with me to check in tomorrow. Oh, yes, I also have to corral enough of those easel-backed busts to display everything on. We've also prepared some of our lampwork bead pull chains and leather necklaces for sale at the show -- just $5 and $10 each, respectively. Great little stocking stuffers -- along with our beaded wine bottle stoppers and canape or cheese sets.

Several of our newest necklaces will make their way to Mableton tomorrow (and they are WONDERFUL, I'll tell you), but several others won't (equally wonderful, believe you me). So check out our own newest items page and watch for more.

Okay, it's a blog. Sorta. Close enough. I like the idea of adding short notes when I update the site, but I finally decided I wanted to do a bit more than just that, and so I went ahead and created its own page. So check back now and then. You might find some surprises.

Nov. 2, 2007 -- Changes to our schedule!
Next up is Lassiter this weekend (Nov. 3-4) and Sprayberry (Nov. 20-21) but we've cancelled Cumming for early December. Instead we will be doing Christmas House Arts & Crafts Show at Mable House Arts Center, Mableton, GA from November 30 thru December 9. Check out our Show Schedule page for details.

October 17, 2007 -- Just added some bracelets to one of the bracelet pages. They didn't hit the Newest Items page because they're not newly crafted, just newly listed. Go check them out!
